About Us

Rocklyte Systems is a technical software research and development firm based in the United Kingdom. We provide a number of business services, including the sale of software licenses for our products and the development of prototype software and new applications for consumers. We also provide consumer versions of our own software for direct sale to the public.

We enjoy developing cutting edge technology. Our development history includes the release of the first XML based desktop system in 2000 and we continue to be the proud owners of the only component-based OS developed for commercial usage. In 2002 we were the first company to release a Linux based desktop system with a graphics system substantially faster than the widespread X11 standard. Our Products

Our flagship product is the Athene Operating System, a multi-platform OS that provides users with a totally configurable, XML based graphical interface. The underlying structure and functionality of the system is completely scalable, allowing it to be reconstructed according to user requirements. The system uses a 100% component based architecture that makes it possible to merge and re-write native applications using our advanced scripting language, DML. Athene is portable to a wide range of machines including embedded systems and runs as a 'virtual machine' on X11 and Windows based desktops. For more detail, please read the introduction page.

The Pandora Engine is an all-purpose set of object oriented APIs and classes that allow software developers to write object based applications and games for multiple platforms. The engine forms the underlying foundation for Athene, but is also useable as a completely separate product. Its notable features are its ease of use, reducing development time for large projects and object based resource tracking. Pandora is particularly designed for developers that require a modern API that works for the programmer rather than against. The Pandora Engine is currently available for Linux and Windows platforms.

The Dynamic Markup Language (DML) is a scripting language that provides the "glue" that links both products together. Based on XML and HTML technologies, you can use DML to build complex applications, user interfaces and interactive documents using the same methods that pioneered the development of the Internet. If you're already familiar with HTML, you'll quickly find that the Dynamic Markup Language gives you "ultimate control" over your work, and is not open to interpretation by web-browser-like technology. DML support is provided with Athene, and will later be available as an add-on to popular Internet browsers.
